I had been eying this shirt all summer & it happened to be on clearance yesterday at W Couture in Saugerties. I knew immediately that I wanted to pair it with the toffee ankle pants from Target.

If I look uncomfortable it's only because it was thundering & raining.

Spicy Mustard To Top It Off

I wouldn't necessarily wear the hat at work, but it's a great accessory to spice up a more casual outfit, especially for those after work outings (& great for those bad hair days too!).

Blue Toffee

When I bought this blouse I knew I wanted to wear it with either a mustard or caramel colored pant to really bring out the boldness of it.  Well, I found these "toffee" colored ones & I think they do the trick.  I think the gray colored booties add some quirkiness to the overall look.

I've had this wrap dress for years.  It's soft, comfortable, & fits beautifully.  I have Open House tomorrow night & won't be able to go home to change, I think this dress will transition perfectly from day to evening.

Sisterly Style - Special Guest Blogger

Tomorrow is a conference day for me without students, so instead of posting a pic of my not-so-exciting outfit, thought I'd feature a "guest blogger".  My sister (whose birthday happens to be this week) emailed me the following, & I just had to post it!

 

 

 

You were my inspiration for today's outfit. Brunch at the boss's house, on the ocean at Long Beach. I'm wearing a sheer DKNY dress (came with a black sheath worn underneath). I wanted more coverage, so I slipped on a pair of Vera Wang ponte pants in black, more substantial than leggings. For a "pop" of color, I borrowed a red necklace and matching earrings from your niece, I think from Laila Rowe, a gift from our sister, years ago.

Tomorrow's outfit is Friday casual with denim capris, threw on a silk scarf to dress it up.  Now I just need a smoking jacket & a pipe...

Fashion Risk?

I've never worn this top to work.  It's silk & I've always considered it a "going out" shirt.  I used to be so worried I'd stain it when I wore it, but I've had it for about 4 years & it washes pretty well actually, so I thought, why not?  To dress it down, I paired it with cargo shorts & sandals.

I bought this dress on clearance at Marshalls for 10 bucks a year or so ago.  The belt I'm wearing came with it.  I wouldn't have thought to put them together, but I think it works.  I also wear this dress in the winter with tights, boots, & a blazer.

Back-to-School-Blues

This dress has thin spaghetti straps, which are against our dress code policy, so I'm wearing a sleeveless shirt underneath it with thicker straps & a covered back.  I don't think it takes away from the look of the dress and I can still stay cool & work-appropriate.

Transition to Fall: An Unlikely Combo

Sweet 16 in the City

Last Thursday I was flattered to be invited to participate in my niece's "Sweet 16" festivities in the city.  The agenda included mani-pedis at bliss spa, dinner at Emporio's in Little Italy, & tickets to Blue Man Group.  I am so proud to be an aunt to such a beautiful & brilliant young woman!
